Was There a Possible World Record Archery Buck Taken? -posted 09/08/05
News has been shaky on this rumor the last few days. However, I have confirmed that there has been a spectacular mule deer taken with a bow in the high country of Colorado. The buck has been green scored at 274 gross and 267 net P&Y and is an unbelievable 39" wide! The buck was taken in the velvet. The current record in the velvet category from what I have found is 264 6/8. Stay tuned as we uncover more about this amazing buck.
New State Record Archery Velvet Buck for Utah? -posted 08/25/05
Just yesterday there was possibly a new state record archery velvet non-typical mule deer taken in Utah. This buck was taken west of Lehi and to some is known as the "General". This buck is a 12x13 point buck that could score in the 230s. This buck is well known to the locals and was actually a buck the Gov. tag holder tried for late last year but did not succeed. The buck is bigger than 2004 and the frame is a true 4x4 with great kickers on each side. The current state record is 235 7/8 and was taken by Casey Glover in 1999 on the Paunsaugunt. I have some kill shot pics of the buck and some live photos of the buck from the winter. I will try and get them posted shortly if possible.
(Update: 09/08/05) Talking with the hunter, it looks like this buck is going to shatter the Utah state record. It still has not been the 60-day wait period, but the buck could reach the 250 gross mark and net score around 245 P&Y. The buck has a 200 class mainframe with about 50 inches of abnormal points. It is also 33 1/2 inches wide. More to come...
Monster Velvet Archery Buck Taken in Nevada? -posted 08/21/05
I just received an email of an incredible buck that was just taken in Nevada. The buck was taken by Randy Ulmer. He was archery hunting in Nevada and took a spectacular velvet mule deer. The buck is 32 1/2" wide, 12x12, and has been green scored at 235 gross. The buck has a 200 class main frame with about 35 inches of abnormal points. What a beautiful buck. If I can get permission to post the photo I will.

First Trophy Animal for 2005 - A Record Pronghorn? -posted 08/20/05
It looks like the 2005 season is off to a great start. One of the first hunts of the season is pronghorn antelope. A handicap hunter was able to not only take a trophy pronghorn in northern New Mexico, but it may be one of the biggest ever! The buck has been green scored at over 93 inches B&C. The antelope is a toad. You will be seeing a full featured story on the hunt in a future issue of Hunting Illustrated.
